Liberal arts student seeking a practical business education
Why did you decide to sign up for HBX CORe?
I took CORe because I wanted to learn about business and economics in a more practical way than my school, a liberal arts college, offers. I wanted to obtain a solid basis of financial literacy for future jobs and so that I would understand what people meant when talking about things such as cash flows, credit and debit, and assets.
What was your favorite part of the program?
I really liked the lecture videos. The professors were great at communicating the material in an interesting and effective manner, and the interactive exercises that followed the videos were kind of fun and helped solidify what I had just learned in the videos.
How are you applying what you've learned in CORe?
However, I also think and hope that CORe gives me slightly more of an edge when applying for internships and jobs. I'm not sure what I want to do long term, but having an understanding of finance and financial reports will be helpful in many types of internships and job experiences.
BA candidate, Art History, Williams College
So far, it has been pretty great to be able to pick up a newspaper and understand what it means when financial terms are used.
